1st Day of School

I started my 13th year of teaching today, but it was a very special day for me because Sam started Kindergarten.  It is the day I have been anxiously awaiting for a couple of years now.  I worried if Sam would be scared, if he would hate coming to school, if he would have friends, and the million other questions that all moms have before their babies start school!

I was pleasantly surprised when Sam exceeded all my expectations!  He was excited about his wonderful teacher, Mrs. Diane and was happy she let him pick out his own seat!  As a teacher, I was glad he picked the table up front by the board.  I thought maybe he would stay a little more focused on his lessons and since he just got glasses a few weeks ago, I wanted to be sure he could see the board!

Of course, we had to have new shoes and a new shirt to match so he would look cool.  I have to say, he was the cutest little wildcat at FES!

I can completely empathize with parents who cry when they send their kids to school for the first time, but today my tears were tears of happiness.  I am excited for Sam.  I am excited about all the fun things he will get to do at school and the new friends he will meet.

I am very lucky to be right next door to him this year because I can enjoy watching him make new friends and watch him learning new things.  I am going to enjoy the fact that he is growing up and getting ready for new adventures in his life!

Make us proud Sam, we love you to the moon and back!!

This is Sam's pumpkin patch.  He took the seeds from his pumpkins last year and planted them in the front yard.  Matt and I were not aware he did this, so we where surprised when a gigantic pumpkin plant started growing!
